Armed with their cameras, students in the second quarter photography elective excitedly roamed the school building looking for possible shots that told a story or evoked a feeling in them about the move or the new facility.
During the elective class, students learned the basics of photography, how to select a shot, and composition. In the last class of the quarter, students, as a group, selected the best from among their 60 plus photos. These photos are displayed in the gallery below with quotes from the students who took the photos.
The staircases in this building are awesome. They are beautiful…so regular in design. They are open and airy. And noisy. Khalif
Seeing the school’s name on the floor of the gym made me very proud. It makes me feel this is a permanent place…that it really belongs to us. Mas’ud

The trophy case is wonderful. It’s a great place to show off our awards and stuff. There is a second case…can we use that if we win more trophies? Khalil
It took a couple days but we finally got used to the “up” and “down” staircases. We’re walking more in this building since it’s so big and the stairwells are far apart. Rebecca
We are excited about the larger basketball court in the gym and about the playground with courts that we hope we can use soon. Khalif
Two working water fountains on one wall! In the old building we only had one working fountain in the entire building. Now we just go outside our classrooms and there they are! Adbul
Having our lockers in the halls is great rather than in the classrooms in the old building. We have more space and the teachers have less noise in the classroom. It feels like a real school now.Kyle
