Welcome from the Director  Welcome! It is my sincere pleasure to introduce you to Link Community School (LCS). As you start the process of researching the myriad middle school options available to you, we hope LCS will spark your interest, as it has for residents of Newark and surrounding communities for over 38 years. LCS is committed to serving students of all academic abilities from economically disadvantaged families in Newark's Central Ward and surrounding communities. We seek students who demonstrate a clear need and desire to benefit from Link's education (academically, developmentally and socially), and who will be successful in a rigorous academic environment with an emphasis on LCS' core values. We also seek students whose parents will be involved in the active life of the school and will be supportive of the high expectations of Link. After a careful review of completed applications, as well as parent and student interviews, each year Link accepts 64 students for the 7th grade. Limited spaces are also available for the 8th grade.
