Admission Criteria
Link uses specific criteria in considering and evaluating applications. In making our decisions, we aim to keep the following considerations in mind:
- Take a roughly equal number of students from three levels of academic achievement: a) below grade level b) at grade level c) above grade level;
- Maintain an equal male/female ratio;
- Provide opportunities for students whose family resources do not readily allow academic alternatives.
Some of the student characteristics we look for include:
- Students who demonstrate a clear need and desire to benefit from Link's education, academically, developmentally, and socially;
- Students whose potential has not been realized or whose potential is surfacing and would benefit from small classes and a small learning community;
- Students who live in Newark as well as students from surrounding urban cities;
- Students who have parents who show a commitment to being involved with the active life of the school and who will be supportive of the high expectations of Link.
