Opportunities for Alumni

We will post opportunities - scholarships, educational contests and internships -  for our high school and college aged alumni on this page. If you hear of other opportunities, please email Aaron Betcher, Director of Alumni and Student Affairs. We'd be happy to include them on this site.

Brick City Scholarship
The Brick City Scholarship Fund is aimed at Newark high school seniors who have demonstrated resilience in their personal lives and achieved academic success in spite of hardships and challenges. Eight winners will be chosen to receive a $20,000 scholarship ($5,000 per year) to help cover the cost of tuition and other college expenses.

Eligible candidates are expected to have maintained a minimum GPA of 2.5 during their senior year of high school and must be slated to attend a four-year college or university in Fall 2010. In addition to the standard scholarship application form, every applicant is required to submit two personal essays, one to two pages in length, and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or school administrator. The scholarship fund is a partnership between the City of Newark, the Municipal Council, Gale Real Estate Services Company and Praedium Group.

The Brick City Scholarship is open to ALL Newark High School seniors (must be a resident of the City of Newark to qualify). For applications, which will be accepted until Friday, June 4th, 2010, contact:
