The Honoree

Link is delighted to honor David J. Ferry at our 12th Annual Golf Outing. For more than 15 years, Dave has been a supporter and champion of Link’s mission to ensure an outstanding middle school education for Newark adolescents with a range of academic abilities. Dave is a Senior VP with The Capital Group in the private client business. Previously he helped to establish the institutional research firm, Empirical Research Partners. Dave began his investment career at Sanford C. Bernstein & Company. He has a B.S. in Business Administration from West Chester University and lives in Westfield, NJ with his wife Cathy, and their two children, Nicholas and Ashley.

The Golf Outing

The Link Community School Golf Outing takes place on the beautiful and challenging Metedeconk National Golf Club in Jackson, NJ. The format for the day is:
9:00 am Registration and Driving Range
9:30 am Continental Breakfast
11:00 am Tee Off ( Best Ball Format)
Lunch on the Turn
4:00 pm Awards Presentation (Men’s and Women’s Prizes) and Reception with Open Bar

The Golf Outing’s Inception

Each July, Link runs a golf outing to increase awareness about Link Community School and raise critical dollars to make its operations possible.

This all started when Rich Mullarkey, Anthony Coscio and Jim Gervasi got together to talk about how to support Link Community School. They had just learned about Link through former trustee and current advisory council member Chris Garavente. They were impressed with Link’s program and results, and decided to create an event that built on one of their passions—golf. They set their sites on an exclusive course in Jackson, New Jersey—Metedeconk National Golf Course.

Led by these four gentlemen, the event has grown over the years and contributed over $1 million to Link Community School. The event has expanded substantially and both early and later supporters are involved in event leadership. A benefit committee plans the event each year with Link’s Development Staff. We hope you will consider getting involved and supporting the event as a committee member or through event sponsorship, hole sponsorship, foursomes and individual golfers, or the golf outing auction.
