Link seeks to provide opportunities that enable students to expand their horizons, build new skills and acquire knowledge over the summer months.
Over the years, Link has developed strong relationships with a number of wonderful camps and summer programs that greatly contribute to student growth and provide life time memories for students. In the late winter, representatives from the camps and programs visit to introduce Link students to their programs. Link staff then helps students and their families apply for spots in the camps, taking advantage of full or partial scholarships our partner organizations offer.

Link Expedition to The Island School — Cape Eleuthera, The Bahamas
Each year, Link Community School selects 10 students to attend a one-week expedition, usually in August, to The Island School, in Cape Eleuthera, The Bahamas. Students study sustainability and marine ecology as well as engage in expeditionary learning, including snorkeling, SCUBA and sea kayaking. These activities present many fun and often challenging experiences that give students a new awareness of their overall potential, their capacity for leadership, and their interrelationship with one another and their environment.
Link Soccer Camp with the New York Red Bulls — Newark, New Jersey
Soccer Camp focuses on skill development, team building and sportsmanship during a week-long program. Fifteen boys and girls have the opportunity to learn from professional trainers from the Red Bulls organization.
Appel Farm Summer Arts Camp – Elmer, New Jersey
Appel Farm’s Summer Arts Camp is a four week, residential arts program in southern NJ. The camp experience includes a combination of a dynamic program of arts classes with an active schedule of outdoor activities and community projects. They offer programs in music, theater, dance, visual arts, photography, video, recording arts, creative writing, sports and swimming. The program provides a supportive environment where all children—regardless of skill level—can explore the arts.
Brantwood Camp — Peterborough, New Hampshire
Brantwood Camp’s sixteen day residential program is centered on the Five Ideals (Honesty, Loyalty, Unselfishness, Cooperation, and Good Sportsmanship), enabling campers to live, think, and act responsibly, with greater independence, self-reliance, and self-esteem. Campers will experience traditional camp activities and have the opportunity to play many sports, including soccer, baseball, basketball, volleyball, swimming and track.
Camp Agawam — Raymond, Maine
Camp Agawam is a traditional seven week boys’ camp offering waterfront activities, land sports, creative arts and outdoor survival skills. The camp promotes independence, respect for others, sportsmanship and leadership among other good character traits.
Camp Border Collie — Morris, New York
Camp Border Collie is a unique summer program linking inner city children with the rescued border collies at Glen Highland Farm. The camp teaches the principles of kindness and compassion for all living things through the human/animal/nature relationship. Campers learn to train the border collies and also participate in a wide range of traditional camp activities including arts and crafts swimming, mountain biking and more.
Camp Vacamas: Trade Winds Lake Camp — Windsor, New York
Trade Winds Lake Camp is a traditional camp with an academic enrichment component. The Camp has extensive facilities, including fully-enclosed basketball courts and new outdoor basketball courts, tennis courts, a boating program, archery facilities, a learning center, an indoor stage and a camper-administered radio station.
Frost Valley YMCA Camp — Frost Valley, New York
Frost Valley YMCA Camp offers three different camping opportunities for young people. Camp Henry Hird is a traditional camp with water sports, hiking, athletics, archery, arts and crafts and more. The Farm Camp, on a 250 acre working farm, teaches children to care for animals, garden and do farm related chores. Water sports, crafts and other traditional camp activities are also included. The Adventure Camp includes traditional activities but with an emphasis on more adventure: rock climbing, ropes courses, skateboarding, mountain boarding and mountain biking as well and canoeing and backpacking.
Project U.S.E. – Throughout New Jersey and Tri State Region
Nestled deep within a 50,000-acre natural area in northern New Jersey, the Wildcat Mountain Wilderness Center is Project U.S.E.’s adventure headquarters, offering camping, hiking, canoeing, rock-climbing, team-building, and leadership training to thousands of young people and adults each year. Project U.S.E. also offers boatbuilding and urban farming programs within Newark and throughout the Tri-state region. Specializing in the out-of-the-ordinary, Project U.S.E.’s tools and tactics support academic learning and promote self-respect, strong character and social and environmental consciousness.
The S.M.A.R.T. Program through UMDNJ — Newark, New Jersey
This program is for students with an interest in a science or health related career. Students will practice and develop competencies necessary for academic and workplace success. The program includes a set of pre-college activities, including leadership training, problem solving, math and computer classes, college tours and oral and written presentations.
Theatre Arts Camp through NJ Playwright’s Theater — Madison, New Jersey
Students will be exposed to many aspects of theater at the Creative Arts Academy. Students work with a team of artists and alternate daily through classes in: Acting Technique, Play Projection, Musical Performance, and Playwriting. Students learn how to weave the various elements together into an engaging, original performance piece presented to family and friends at the end of camp.The program builds creativity, self confidence and teaches critical thinking and collaboration skills.
