If my child is currently attending Link, do I need to complete an enrollment form for next year?
No, you do not need to complete an enrollment form if your child currently attends Link. You may be asked to update other documents, however.

If my child is currently attending Link, will we need to participate in the lottery?
No, current students do not participate in the lottery as they are given preference.

What grades are you enrolling?
Link has four grades –  5 through 8.

How many seats are available in each grade?
Beginning in 2018, Link will add 8 seats to the 5th grade each year for four years. This will result in 80 seats in each grade by 2022.

If I have a student currently attending Link, how do I enroll his/her sibling?
Priority is given to the siblings of current students. We define sibling as a brother or sister living in the same house as a current student. For a sibling to be considered, parents must complete an application. It is important that the application for a sibling be completed and returned to Link before the first lottery in January.

Can I apply even if we live in a town other than those served by your charter (Newark, Irvington, Orange and East Orange)?
Yes, you are welcome to submit enrollment applications. Your child will be considered for enrollment if the pool of students from the towns we serve is exhausted.

What is the deadline for the enrollment form?
The deadline for submission for an enrollment application for the 2019-2020 school year is February 15, 2019.

When will the lottery be held?
The first lottery will be held on February 20, 2019 at the school.

When will I know the results of the lottery?
You will be informed of your child’s selection in the lottery directly after it takes place.

What if my child is not selected during the lottery?
Your child will be given a spot on our Wait List. We use the Wait List to fill spaces vacated by students who decide not to pursue at placement at Link or who leave Link during the school year. The Wait List is kept active until June of the following year.

Can I visit the school prior to applying for enrollment?
Families and their children are strongly encouraged to visit Link.

We generally hold several Open Houses for prospective families. We will post the dates for Open Houses in September of each year.

If you are unable to attend any of the scheduled open houses, please call Mr. Silver, director of admissions, at 973.642.0529 to schedule a visit. He would be very happy to give you a tour and explain the benefits of an education at Link!

What do I need to do after I complete the enrollment form and deliver it to Link?
You will wait for the lottery and if your application is among those selected to fill the available seats you will be notified. At a designated time, you will be asked to demonstrate that your child is enrolled in the public schools in the town you reside in, provide a birth certificate and present us with a transfer card showing your child is being transferred to Link Community Charter School from the board of education in your district of residence.

Who should I contact for more information?
Contact Mr. Silver at 973.642.0529 or gsilver@linkschool.org.
